The Garden Party Series

As we dive deeper into the British summer, the temperatures are rising, the cute dresses and tie tops are out, and we’re finally getting some of that much-needed vitamin D. With the possibility of going abroad looking extremely unlikely, this year we’re finding ways to appreciate the things we have on our doorstep. In the blogging world, there has been a growing ‘picnic’ trend sweeping the timeline. That’s right, forget the days when picnics were trips out with your parents where you’d play rounders and drink lukewarm orange squash as you sat surrounded by other people’s screaming kids. Nope, picnics are now a rather classy affair. They are places to eat strawberries and drink freshly pressed lemonade…and get some extremely instagrammable photos of course.

I for one am absolutely loving this new picnic trend, and I have really enjoyed shooting these types of photos to experiment outside of my regular content. One of the best things about this trend is that you don’t even necessarily need to leave your house to get some cool photos. Just set up a cute blanket and some props in your garden and you’re good to go! I wanted to share some of my favourite looks that I have styled for these ‘garden party’ shoots in a little #ootd blog post because they are my fave looks at the moment, and quite frankly, it would be rude to confine them to my garden. As you probably already know, I am an ambassador for Boohoo! All of the outfits in this post are from their site and were kindly gifted to me through our ongoing partnership.

OUTFIT ONE

The first look in my series is this gorgeous little blue and white ensemble! When I saw this top on the Boohoo website, I immediately added it to my basket. Not only is the colour stunning, but I just absolutely love the shape of it, and think it’s so flattering!

Puff sleeves have been in fashion for a while now and I love the ones on this top because they are just a subtle hint to the trend, without being too in your face. What is also great about this top is that, obviously, you can tie it as tight as you like to get your desired fit!

I paired the top with this super cute skirt from Boohoo that I have been wearing so much recently. It actually came as part of a knitted set, but I’ve been wearing the skirt with lots of different tops. I just love the frilled hem of it because it’s a really cute style and adds a little extra something to a simple bodycon skirt. I also think the hem really balances out the puff sleeves of the top, and comes together to create a sort of hourglass shape to the outfit!

I just think this outfit is so good for the summer garden party vibe! The colours compliment each other so nicely and the outfit is the perfect amount of ‘dressy’ for a cute summer daytime event!

OUTFIT TWO

I have been searching for a top like this one for so long now and I was over the moon when I finally found one on Boohoo as part of this adorable little co-ord set! There’s just something about this shirred little tie-top style that I am just obsessed with, I think it just looks so cute and I absolutely love the neckline. What I also love about this top is how the sleeves have a frilled hem, it’s such a lovely little detail that really balances out the overall shape of the top.

If I’m honest, I purchased this co-ord just for the top, however when the skirt arrived I actually loved it! It’s a skater skirt style but it has little ruched lines all the way down which I think is such a great way to add some detail to the piece. It also highlights the ruched detailing in the top that matches it and helps to bring the whole co-ord together!

This outfit might be black, but it still screams summer to me! I just think the two pieces look so cute together, but you could also easily wear them separately with other things. This is the perfect look to enjoy some drinks in the sun.

OUTFIT THREE

So this look slightly deviates from the ‘garden party’ theme, but another similar trend that has been all over the gram is the ‘tennis aesthetic’. I must say, I’m not particularly skilful when it comes to sports, but nevertheless, I am loving this trend!

I knew exactly how I wanted to style this gorgeous green knitted top when I ordered it. It just gave me such tennis / sports luxe vibes! I knew it would look super cute with some sort of pleated or white skirt, and when I paired it with the knitted skirt from earlier I loved how they looked together!

No tennis look is complete without some cute trainers and some white ankle socks. I have been obsessed with my custom Dior airforce 1s since I got them for my birthday (even though I am yet to wear them out the house) and I thought the pop of pastel pink was the perfect addition to this look! Having white ankle socks is also a really cute alternative to trainer socks and I think its one of those little details that helps to bring the outfit together!

So I may not be very good at tennis, but at least I look the part right? This outfit is just such a vibe right now and I think the colours are so stunning for summer! Anyone for some strawberries and cream?

Picnics in the garden are fast becoming my favourite activity, and with outfits this cute, I might have to start making them a daily occurrence…
