A beauty writer reviews: the Laneige Lip Sleeping Masks
I am a big believer in fate, but there are few times when I have truly felt like someone was watching over me as much as I did few months ago, when I’d been suffering from a ferocious bout of dry, cracked lips, and opened my door to a miraculously unexpected parcel containing five overnight lip masks from Laneige…
Having slathered my lips in every balm, gloss and cream I could find, nothing in my beauty stash was relieving the dryness, with some products even making it worse. I was at my wits end when an angel (in the form of a postman) delivered my saving grace (in the form of a PR package).
A brand that I had seen trending all over my TikTok fyp, Laneige had intrigued me for a while. Their viral Overnight Lip Masks had been raved about by skinfluencers on the app and I was eager to know what the fuss was all about. Plus, this was the last chance saloon for my sore lips. So there was no better time to delve into this package.
Laneige Lip Sleeping Masks
Boasting a berrylicious blend of raspberry, strawberry, cranberry and blueberry extracts, this mask practically gives me my 5-a-day in one application. The fruity blend offers antioxidant protection, whilst shea butter conditions and softens the lips. Topped off with the brand’s trademarked Moisture Wrap™ technology, this mask is a hydrating veil like no other. Think slugging, but for your pout.
Laneige lip mask flavours
This sweet sleeping mask comes in six different flavours:
- Original
- Sweet Candy
- Lemon Sorbet
- Vanilla
- Pink Grapefruit
- Chocolate
First impressions
Being a sucker for a sweet scent, I started my lip revival off with the Sweet Candy flavour. Upon first application, I felt instant relief! Thicker and more nourishing than any balm I had used before, I found that a little bit goes a long way.
Unlike a balm, this mask really coated the lips in a protective veil, so much so that it felt like the outside world couldn’t even touch them – which was exactly what I needed. After sleeping a full eight hours with the formula on, the veil remained in tact when I woke up in the morning and hadn’t worn off like most other balms do, leaving my lips to reap the full rewards.
But was my dryness cured? Well, it wasn’t an overnight fix, but it was a huge improvement from before. Although not fully bounced back, my pout felt so much more soothed and hydrated than before, and I knew I was on the road to recovery.
Overall review & rating
I’m pretty sure I haven’t gone a single night without wearing this lip mask since it turned up at my door. And yet, I still haven’t got anywhere near to the end of my first pot (I told you a little bit goes a long way). A fully fledged part of my PM routine, this mask is such a great way of keeping my lips soft and smooth overnight, and it just feels so luxurious.
If you’re looking for something that works harder than a balm, this is the ideal product for you. These masks saved some very dry lips in their time of need, I wonder what fate has in store for me next…
