The £3 Sol de Janeiro dupe that changed my life
There are two post-shower personalities in this world. Those who like a quick dry and change, and those who love to coat their skin in layers of moisturisers, oils and creams. Can you guess which category I fall into?
There’s just something so satisfying about slathering my skin in body butter following a hot shower, I don’t feel like my routine is complete without it. My post-rinse partner for the last year has been my trusty Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum cream (which despite its name, isn’t exclusively for your posterior).
For those who haven’t had the pleasure of smelling the Bum Bum Cream, think tropical shores and sweet vanilla undertones. Particularly great for sweet tooths, it’s the kind of scent that has you hooked from the beginning. Love at first sniff, if you will.
As you have probably gathered, Sol De Janeiro’s dream cream is one of my favourite beauty staples, so I never thought anything else would come close. That was until the TikTok algorithm blessed me with a life-changing dupe…

Treaclemoon Brazilian Love collection
Brought to us by the high street brand Treaclemoon, the Brazilian Love Shower & bath Gel is claimed to be an almost exact replica of the iconic Sol de Janeiro Cheriosa scent. With the SDJ shower gel coming in at a pricey £22 compared to just £3 for the dupe (and even cheaper in store), this opportunity was too good for me to pass up. So I bagged a bottle to see for myself.
Lo and behold, the fragrances are barely distinguishable from one another, and both equally as delicious! I don’t know which brand came out first, but I’m in love with both of them.
After sharing my excitement with my followers, I was lucky enough to receive a PR package from Treaclemoon to try the whole range, and it’s safe to say I wasn’t disappointed…
Brazilian Love Shower & Bath Gel
Not only does this shower gel smell like a tropical paradise, but it makes my skin feel deliciously smooth every time. Super gentle, easy to lather up and soothing on the body, there’s nothing bad I can say about this!
Brazilian Love Shower Scrub
I’m personally not a fan of abrasive body scrubs, so I love that this one is more on the gentle side. But despite it being less intense than other scrubs I’ve tried before, it still provides a great amount of exfoliation, and leaves my skin feeling baby soft.
Brazilian Love Body Lotion
Much like the OG Bum Bum cream, a little goes a long way with this formula. With just a few squeezes, my entire body is silky soft and veiled in vanilla goodness. This lotion is almost good enough to eat.
Brazilian Love Hand Cream
This pocket-sized pot of paradise is my new handbag essential. Whether my hands are feeling dry or I simply want to smell amazing, I love applying this throughout the day to keep my skin hydrated and soft as can be.
As a bargain lover and a beauty fanatic, my two passions really came together with this Sol de Janeiro dupe. Of course, I still have a huge soft spot for the original formula, but it’s nice to have options to choose from. Either way, one thing I’m certain of is that I really, really need a holiday…
