These beauty products are actually worth the hype
As I sat down in the middle of my bedroom floor yesterday, surrounded by a metre-wide radius of boxes, samples and beauty gift sets, I couldn’t help but be impressed (and slightly overwhelmed) at the scale of my ever-growing collection. Working in the beauty industry, I am fortunate enough to have access to some of the latest and greatest brands in the business, and reviewing products to see which ones are worth the hype is a big part of my job.
My monthly beauty clear out / organisation day often prompts me to reflect over which brands really deserve a place in my beauty basket. As someone who has access to a plethora of products, I can afford to be picky, which means only the best of the best make the cut.
Making it to the end of a full-sized product is something of an achievement for me. A bittersweet moment of disappointment and satisfaction at having used every last drop. Something I have learnt from being spoilt for choice is that if I use a product all the way to the end, I know it will become a lifetime favourite, and this month I scraped the barrel of multiple products that are going straight back in my basket. The general consensus is that if you can’t imagine your life without a certain product, then it’s earned a permanent spot in your beauty regime. That’s exactly how I feel about this dream cream. Despite people often being slightly perplexed by the name, this product isn’t exclusively for your bum, but your entire body.
Adorned with a scent that is nothing short of heavenly, slathering this all over my skin post-shower is genuinely my favourite part of the day. A sweet blend of vanilla, almond and salted caramel, I always feel like my best self when wearing this cream which goes beyond just moisturising, but also firms and tightens the skin to keep it in tip top condition. I love this product so much I simply had to purchase the matching body spray. Trust me guys, once you go Brazilian you never go back.
Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel
I’ve been a Dermalogica girl for years now. Ever since being part of their #skinfluencer programme, I have had the opportunity to discover their fantastic range and I’m becoming more obsessed with each new launch. My second bottle of this cleanser, I am still loving the formula just as much as the day I first tried it.
Special by name, special by nature, this cleanser is super gentle, fragrance-free and totally nourishing on the skin. For those in need of a non-stripping, softer cleanse, this product has been my go-to for as long as I can remember. It may be at the pricier end of the scale, but I’d still add it to my basket in a heartbeat.
ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm
Every influencer and their mum has talked about this product, and you immediately realise why when you try it out. With face wipes long gone from the beauty scene, balms and oil cleansers have risen to the top, and this one is the cream of the crop.
Essentially, I love this formula for how effortlessly it melts the makeup (including mascara!) off my face. Scrubbing and rubbing away at my skin is a complete no-no and this product helps me achieve a deep cleanse without any harshness. One of the more luxurious-feeling products in my regime, I’ve already broken into a new pot of this beautiful balm.
Wild Deodorant Refills
When I was gifted the Wild deodorant a few months ago, I wasn’t sure how I would feel about it. At this point, I was a spray deodorant girl through and through, so wasn’t sure how it would compare. It’s safe to say that after trying this unique formula, I’ll never be going back to my old deodorant again!
Not only do they come in lots of stunning unique scents which last a really long time, but I’ve found it to work better for me than any deodorant I have used before. On the odd day where I have been away and needed to use a spray instead, the difference is stark. Wild keeps me feeling fresher for so much longer, and I love the sustainable aspect of it. I’ve stocked up on my next three refills and I can’t wait to try more!
NARS Afterglow Lip Balm
Admittedly, I’m not very adventurous with lipsticks, and prefer to opt for a more glossy, natural shade. When I find a lipstick that works for me, I use it to death, and that’s exactly what happened with this balm. The perfect dewy (but non-sticky), moisturising balm with a flush of natural but pretty colour, I quite literally haven’t left the house without this balm in my bag for the last year.
From no-makep days to full glam evenings, this lipstick has been my partner in crime for the longest time, and is always the one I’d recommend to a friend. If you’re looking for a moisturising formula, this is the perfect one to make your pout pop.
NuFace Microcurrent Activator Gel
In my never-ending quest to rid myself of my double chin, I have recently turned to the powers of microcurrent. The NuFace Mini has become a well-established part of my regime, and I love the instant lift that it gives my skin.
This activator not only prevents me from receiving unexpected zaps from my NuFace, but I find that it really nourishes and moisturises my skin. Since adding this step to my regime, I’ve found that the added layer of moisturiser before the rest of my routine has made my skin plumper, softer and clearer than ever before. I love how this cares for my complexion, and I’ll definitely be stocking up for my future facials.
So there you have it, from the organised chaos of my beauty cupboard, these are the products I know I’ll be reaching for time and time again. In a world full of beauty myths and false reviews, the hype around these products is totally real, and I can’t wait to place my next order.
