Channelling Chanel with Cat’s Eyes Vintage
If there’s one thing I love, it’s clothes that look more expensive than they are. I mean, why break the bank when you can achieve the same look for much less? Plus you get the satisfaction of telling everyone how cheap it was when they ask (yes I am that annoying person).
If you’ve been following my blog for a while, they you will most certainly be familiar with my good friend Cat, who runs a fabulous boutique on ASOS Marketplace. When it comes to vintage looks, Cat’s boutique is the place to go, featuring a wide selection of gorgeous second-hand gems! Recently, she very kindly offered to gift me an item of my choice from her lovely collection, which I was extremely excited about. It probably took all of two minutes before I fell head over heels in love with one of the items, and so I wanted to make a little #ootd blog post to share it with you guys!
When it comes to timeless looks, you can’t get more timeless than Chanel, and it’s one of my favourite styles to incorporate into my modern wardrobe. If you saw my first Channelling Chanel post back in the summer, then you will already know how much I love the iconic tweed look that they are so famous for, and today I’m focusing on another one of their legendary looks – the dogtooth jacket.
Structured shoulders, bold print and the classic gold buttons, the Chanel cardigan has been a staple feature since what feels like the dawn of time itself. Luckily for me, these days you can achieve a designer look without the designer budget to match.
As soon as I saw this gorgeous cardigan on Cat’s shop, I knew exactly how I wanted to style it. I wanted to create a classy, yet somewhat casual look that would be great for every day wear, so I opted to pair it with my staple blue jeans. I love the way the blue compliments the monochrome palette of the jacket!
I chose to wear my chunky Calvin Klein trainers because, when do I ever wear anything else? But this outfit would also look fabulous with some white boots, or some dainty heels if your going for a dressier look. I love how versatile this look can be and that you can dress it up or down as much as you please!
For a pop of colour, I accessorised with this beautiful bag that I was again very kindly gifted from Voyage Time and I fell in love with the moment it arrived. First of all, the colour is just amazing, and contrasts beautifully with the jacket, whilst the gold chain subtly picks out the gold of the buttons.
Secondly, whist it may look small, this bag evokes that of Mary Poppins, with multiple pockets, zip compartments and even card holders, giving you more than enough space to fit all of your essentials in one place! I have had so many compliments on this little bag since I got it and I just think it was the perfect accessory for this outfit!
The cardigan itself is gorgeously thick and weighty, so it doesn’t feel cheap or synthetic at all. I love the shape of the neckline and the slightly oversized fit on my shoulders, giving that structured look that Chanel is so famous for.
You could wear this cardigan open or closed but I personally love wearing it done up because I think it works so well as a statement piece! To add to the vintage style of the outfit, I opted to curl my hair and put it in a low pony tail and sweep it to the side – I think curling your hair when you put it up gives it so much more volume and makes for a really classy look!
I finished off my accessories with my favourite gold and pearl earrings from H&M that I pretty much wear with every single outfit, and my trusty Primark cat eye sunglasses. Sadly, these were the last moments I will ever capture with these glasses because they snapped right after my shoot…I suppose all good things come to an end eventually. We had a good run.
This genuinely is one of my favourite looks in my wardrobe right now. Not only is it perfect for autumn wear, but it’s just such a classic style that will never go out of fashion. Sometimes, I think it can be difficult to recreate the dog tooth look for cheap without it verging on tacky, but this outfit emulates it fabulously. Even if I do say so myself.
What I love about wearing pieces from Cat’s shop is that, because they’re thrifted, they’re pretty much always completely one-off and unique so nobody else has them! Eco-friendly fashion is a red hot topic right now and Cat’s boutique shows that focusing on sustainability, doesn’t mean you have to compromise on style. You can still achieve high fashion looks for sustainable fashion prices!

I love this look! I think the cardigan suits perfectly your style, I love it! 😍 My favourite vintage finds are trousers! Mainly when they are extremely high waisted and I like that!
