The Bargain Blazer
If you haven’t been living under a rock then you’ve probably noticed that blazers are all the rage at the moment. I mean, in terms of staple pieces, blazers have been timeless, but right now they’re hotter than ever. The smart-casual look is taking fashion bloggers by storm and I have seen so many styles that I’m obsessed with, it’s just a shame that I can’t afford them all *reaches for tiny violin*.
As usual, my beloved Primark came to the rescue, providing me with the look for less! This bargain comes in the form of a checkered blazer, at a pretty little price of just €18.
I did already feature this blazer in my post about neon, but just in case you missed it, I wanted to share another way that I like to style it. Because as I’ve previously said, despite what social media suggests, people do actually wear clothes more than once.
Taking advantage of the unseasonably beautiful February weather, I was so excited to finally be able to leave the house without wearing a coat that weighs more than myself. This blazer is a thin jersey material so it’s perfect for coming into when you want a lighter jacket.
I have wanted to buy a full tailored suit for ages because I think they look a-ma-zing, but as a student who generally ends up going to lectures in leggings and a hoodie most of the time, I just don’t feel like it’s really justifiable at the moment. I mean, if I have a suit, I really want to own the suit, if you know what I mean?
This is why I love blazers like this so much because I think they’re the perfect middle ground. I feel confident to wear this in the day with a pair of jeans without looking too corporate, but I still get the essence of the tailored look.
These gorgeous jeans are from Primark as well at just €15, so not only are they an amazing fit, but they’re also such a bargain. I do have some mom jeans that I’ve had for years that I like to wear, but personally I prefer this vintage straight style on myself as sometimes I find mom jeans a bit too baggy.
When it came to this look, I tried keeping it simple. Less is more right?
Some of my favourite looks are just composed of plain t-shirts and jeans, I feel like it’s such a classic that 1. looks great on anyone and 2. will never go out of style. So I put together this white shirt, jeans and trainers. Simple.
Keeping up the simplicity, I accessorised with my black bumbag, black belt and of course, my black cat-eye sunnies, because no look is complete without them these days (and it was actually sunny enough to warrant it).
Blazer- Primark
Tshirt- Topshop
Jeans- Primark
Shoes- Primark
Sunglasses- Primark
Bumbag- New Look
Overall I love this look for spring. I must admit that if you’re looking for a thicker, more structured blazer then this one isn’t for you, but Primark actually have a huge variety of blazers with different cuts and materials so it’s definitely worth checking out their collection.
I have no doubt that one day I will be strutting through the streets in my fancy tailored suit, but until that day comes, the smart-casual look is perfect for me.
How do you style a blazer? I’d love to know in the comments below!
