#TimeToCare: The Body Shop Product Review

Ever since I was little, I have always been a huge fan of The Body Shop’s products. In fact, I think they are pretty much the only brand of body butter that I have ever consistently used. I must admit, however, that I never quite realised the extent of their skincare product range until recently when I was fortunate enough to be asked to become a brand ambassador for them! Before now, I had always focused more on their body moisturisers, although I had been introduced to the wonders of their vitamin C collection, but I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered the vast range of products they have on offer that target all different types of skincare concerns!

With my ambassadorship, I am lucky enough to receive a goodie bag of products of my own choice every month to try out and review for my audience. Typically, this would involve a face to face consultation, but due to the current situation, this was an online order. So, I took to my instagram stories to ask you guys for your favourite recommendations! After a lot of responses, I could see the same few products were coming up, so I headed over to the website and placed my order to try them out myself!

This month’s collaboration was called #TimeToCare. With self-care being more important than ever right now, The Body Shop want to advocate dedicating time to taking care of yourself mentally, physically, and of course, nourishing your skin. Now that I have been using these products for a few weeks, I wanted to share my personal reviews over on my blog for anyone who is looking to try out these products, because I for one, am loving them!

TEA TREE ANTI-IMPERFECTION OVERNIGHT MASK

First up is this night mask that I saw in their ‘highly rated’ section of their website. I must admit, when I first read that it was a night mask, I was quite sceptical. Considering face masks are usually a thick, gloopy consistency, I wasn’t sure how I was going to wear this overnight without leaving a perfect green imprint of my face on the pillow. However, the reviews said that it didn’t transfer, so I trusted in my peers and added it to my basket.

I was somewhat startled at the look of this mask when I first opened the lid, because of its almost radioactive green colour, I was intrigued to see how it would look on my face. The consistency of this mask is very different to any that I have used before, and rather than being a clay-like consistency, it is more of a jelly. However, once applied to the face, it is much more watery, almost like a serum! And you’ll be pleased to know, it dries clear on the skin, so you aren’t left resembling Shrek.

One of the best things about this mask is that a little goes a long way! I only used a small amount, and it easily covered my whole face. It also dries completely in about 15 minutes, and doesn’t transfer onto your pillow whatsoever! The smell is nice, and not overwhelmingly strong like some tea tree products, and the mask isn’t drying or harsh on the skin either (which is something I have found with tea tree before).

After using it for the first time, the next morning I found that most of my spots had come to a head. Whilst this is not a miracle treatment that magical cured all my blemishes overnight, I have never found a product that is capable of doing that. I mean, does that kind of product even exist?! However, I have since used it multiple times, and I think this is a great product for preventing breakouts and maintaining clear skin! They recommend to use it 2-3 times a week as opposed to every day, and my skin has been much clearer since I have been using it, even just once a week.

OVERALL THOUGHTS
  • A little bit goes a long way, so the tub is long-lasting
  • Dries quickly and doesn’t transfer
  • Brought my spots to a head
  • Not harsh or drying on the skin
  • Leaves skin smooth
  • Not a MIRACLE overnight product, but good results with regular use

VITAMIN C GLOW REVEALING SKIN-PEEL

This product was one of the most highly recommended ones in my Instagram responses, so I was very eager to try it. Of course, you can have skin peels done as a proper treatment at a salon, but I don’t know about you, but I don’t have the time, or the money to be doing that on a regular basis. So, I thought I would try out what many people have described as a ‘wonder product’.

This is yet another treatment that only requires a little bit of product, as all you need are two pumps to do your entire face. You apply the two pumps to dry skin and rub in using circular motions until dead skin starts to ball up on your face, and oh boy did it ball up. As someone who exfoliates their skin every day, I was in utter shock at the amount of dead skin that was coming off with this product. It was one of those wonderfully gross yet satisfying moments that all skincare junkies crave. Once you have been rubbing it in for 20-30 seconds, you simply wash it off and you are left with super soft skin!

After using this product, I was amazed at how soft my skin felt! It really felt as if I had gotten rid of all the junk that was sitting in the outer layer of my face, I felt like a new woman! What I love about this is how quick and easy it is to use, yet you really feel like you’re getting results. I have also since discovered that this product can be used on other parts of the body to remove dead skin such as feet, or patches of bad fake tan (something I suffer from all too frequently).

OVERALL THOUGHTS
  • A little bit goes a long way, so product is long-lasting
  • VERY satisfying
  • Leaves skin feeling super soft
  • Very quick and easy to use
  • Refreshes skin and removes dead skin cells better than an exfoliating brush or face wash

VITAMIN E NIGHT CREAM

Lastly, I ordered this vitamin E night creamas lots of people had said it was a really nice product. I don’t typically suffer from dry skin during the warmer months, but I felt like this product did more than simply moisturise, but plumped and nourished the skin. Overnight is when we lose most of our skin’s moisture, so I’ve discovered how important it is to replenish it whilst we sleep!

The first thing I love about this product is the smell! I can’t even describe what it is, all I can say is that it reminds me of a baby product range. Essentially, it is a very light scent, not overwhelming, but just pleasant. Yet again, a very little bit goes a long way with this as it is such a rich moisturiser. I literally take a tiny bit on my fingernail and dot it over my face and it covers it easily.

This product doesn’t leave any heavy residue on the skin, and although it is a thick product, it doesn’t feel heavy or cakey! Since using this product, I think it has kept my skin super soft and plump, and I feel like when used in conjunction with the other products it is the perfect way to finish off my skincare routine.

OVERALL THOUGHTS
  • Gorgeous scent
  • A little bit goes a long way, so the product is long-lasting
  • Rich and thick, but not cakey on the skin
  • Leaves skin soft and smooth
  • Feels nourishing on the skin and doesn’t leave any excess residue

Overall, I can genuinely say that my skin has really improved since using these products! I think my newfound emphasis on night-time replenishment has been a key step to add to my routine that I never focused on before, and has really been helping to keep my skin on track. If you haven’t tried using overnight products then I advise that you give it a go, and I highly recommend all of these products! The journey to great skin can be a long and frustrating one, and I am far from having a perfect complexion. But the Body Shop has certainly been helping me to get my glow back!
