Fashion Faves: Houndstooth

It’s no secret that I am partial to finding styles that I like, and very quickly becoming obsessed with them. Once I fall in love with something, I can’t help but want it in every colour. It’s a problem fashion bloggers know all too well, and is exactly what has happened with my recent material love affair…

When it comes to classic patterns, it doesn’t get much more classic than the Chanel-esque houndstooth design. This has been an iconic print for decades in high fashion, and it has recently reappeared on the high street scene, and I for one, am very happy about it. I feel like this is such a classic design that makes any outfit look instantly more chic, and I love incorporating it into dressy outfits, as well as more casual daytime looks! I wanted to share with you some pieces from my ever-growing houndstooth collection, to show the different ways I style this iconic print.

If you saw my very excitedly-written post ‘My Photo Got 142k Likes?!‘, then you will already have seen this gorgeous jumper that managed to get little old me reposted on the H&M Instagram! This was one of the first houndstooth items that I purchased this year and I am still just as in love with it as the day I bought it.

Baggy jumpers are an essential item to have in your wardrobe, but then can so easily end up looking drab and boring, so when I spotted this jumper on the rail in H&M I knew it was the perfect addition to my collection!

I absolutely adore the colour of this jumper, neutrals are always a staple and I think this shade of brown is such a great transitional colour for the warmer weather. I paired it with these white cord trousers from Zara but it also looks gorgeous with plain denim jeans, or shorts for the warmer weather.

I topped off the look with this cute little pouch bag and of course, some super chic cat-eye sunglasses which compliment the style perfectly! Without a doubt, this was my favourite jumper of the season, and I am sure I will be wearing it all of next year again!

BABY BLUE

If you follow me on Instagram then you will know that I have an obsession with pastels right now. So when I spotted this jumper on the Boohoo website, it went straight in my basket!

I’ve been seeing the tennis / golf trend all over Instagram and I felt like this jumper fitted that style perfectly! I never usually like v-neck jumpers or tops, but I think this one looks so cute with a white shirt styled underneath and makes for a cute, preppy look.

I paired this jumper-shirt combo with my favourite bag of the moment, and I love how the pop of pink compliments the baby blue of the jumped. These are some of my favourite colours and I think they look so great together! I also picked out the pink tones with my custom pink Dior AirForce 1s!

I think this look is such a vibe right now, and I love the way it turned out! Houndstooth is traditionally in darker colours, so I love this little twist on the style for the summer months. I ordered it in a few sizes up to have a more oversized look, and the material isn’t too thick, so it’s perfect for the spring season!

CLASSIC BLACK

Obviously this post had to include the traditional houndstooth style that everyone knows and loves, and whilst I can’t afford a Chanel jacket, I can afford a high street dupe. I immediately fell in love with this blazer when I saw it in Boohoo’s #boohoointhehouse collection and knew exactly how I wanted to style it!

For this look, I ordered the blazer in a size 10 for a more oversized fit so that I could wear the blazer as a dress. I think this blazer is the perfect level of oversized so that it is long enough to wear as a dress, without drowning you.

As we all know by now, I love to add a pop of colour to my outfits, and this Asos bag was the perfect addition to this black and white look! The perfectionist part of me is also very happy about the fact that my bag also matches my phone case.

I paired the blazer with some classic knee high boots from Missguided which I think tie the look together perfectly and make it look super chic! I particularly love the style of these boots because the heel is more of a triangular block, which gives me real 60s vibes. I also think this look could be really cute with some simple white trainers for a more casual style.

I think this outfit really encapsulates the classic Chanel vibe that everyone associates houndstooth with! I absolutely love the fit of the blazer and the material is also such great quality. I think this is such a classic style that will never go out of fashion, and I can’t wait to finally be able to wear it outside of the house…

It appears that I really am barking mad about houndstooth (did you actually think I was going to get through this whole post without making that joke?) I’m currently resisting the urge to keep adding more colours to my collection, but I’m not sure how long that will last…
