My Current Obsession: Polka Dot

Here comes yet another clothing obsession of mine, and this time it takes the form of polka dots. I have watched this trend grow in the past few months with unreserved delight and consequently I am having to resist the urge to transform my entire wardrobe into a sea of spots. So I wanted to share some of the polka dot looks I am loving at the moment as I fall further into my obsession.

Oh, and you might want to steer clear of this post if you happen to suffer from trypophobia.

The first piece is a dress that I bought last year from Topshop. My love for this item has only grown over the past year and I can’t wait to wear it all summer. With an off the shoulder cut and frill detail, I find this dress to be really sophisticated, but above everything it is just SO cute. This outfit is perfect for a day to night look, from drinks outside in the sun to a night at the cocktail bar.

I have teamed this dress with black accessories. I think the black strappy heels make the look feel that little bit more dressy but at a mid height, they are perfect for comfortable day wear.

The second polka dot piece is this amazing pair of trousers from Missguided. I fell in love with these when I first saw them and was even more delighted to find them on sale! I am really into statement trousers at the moment, and I think I’m definitely onto a winner with these. If I were to give one criticism however, it would be about the length. I am still unsure as to why online clothing sites seem to think all girls are 7ft tall but I’m hoping that they will get the memo soon. These trousers are definitely wearable with a pair of heels, but if you find yourself going out in classically awful English weather, don’t be surprised if you leave the club with muddy ankles.

I wore this outfit on a night out in Manchester and loved it, the trousers are so comfortable and look great with this off the shoulder black top. I added a gold choker to bring out the gold in the belt buckle and I think that wearing this look with a low pony tail makes it look all the more sophisticated.

This final look is perfect for summer. My mum picked out this top from Topshop as a birthday present and I have been obsessed with it ever since. I also managed to find these gorgeous trousers in Primark for just £13!! I think the top is so cute and really complements the trousers, this outfit is great for a summer garden party and would look amazing with a tan (which I unfortunately do not have).

Again I have teamed this look with the gold choker as I think it is a simple yet really pretty piece of jewellery. I also added some nude heels that again, are a really good mid-height allowing for comfortable wear! I must admit that these Primark trousers are a bit see-through (there had to be ONE catch right?), but as long as you wear small, nude underwear then you should be fine (or no underwear if that’s your thing!).

So those are three looks that I am loving recently. As it stands, I can only envision my love for polka dot growing throughout the season, but hopefully I won’t go too out of control. Above everything, this style has got me excited for planning cute summer looks and I cannot wait to fully enjoy them once my exams are FINALLY over!
